MUST HAVE

I love this book and all the tips and advise it has to offer I've definitely learned/learning new things as I'm reading it. I can say that I'm going to try to eat better while pregnant because at first it seemed impossible but I can truly say this book inspires me. This book is great for any mom they're always new things to be learned!

Great Nutrition Advise at any time in life

I have had terrible trouble losing the weight I gained with my first son, and I worry about my own health, and the health of a new baby, if I started a new pregnancy at the weight I am at now. We would like to start trying again in the next year or two, so we discussed the issue with my doctor and her advice was to start treating your body now like you would if you were pregnant. So I bought this book.

I almost bought it's predicessor, but the description of this version's reduction in the "wheatier than thou" approach sold me. I have a couple of the other "What to do books" and was aware that I would skim past a lot of the dietary advice as not being realistic to my lifestyle - but this book is. Its full of down-to-the-roots, real life knowledge on what nutrition really is, why you are supposed to eat what they say you should, and real-world decision making for trying to be healthy one day at a time.

It goes into fantastic detail on the Daily Dozen concept, and the recipies that I have tried so far are easy and tasty, with lots of room for personalization and variety. But it's not just a diet-or a recipe book. It's a way to trully think about everything you eat and why you do or don't need it. Whether I lose the weight or not, whether we have another child or not, I've gained a lot of confidence and knowledge about my habits from this book and I am very pleased with it.

Who knew being pregnant came with so many food restrictions and requirements. This book has great useful information on the do's and dont's and has some great tasting recipes that are healthy.

Close, but not what it could have been

The jazz guitar chord book by Chad Johnson is a good starting place for many novices to jazz guitar. It does provide plenty of chord fingerings to allow someone to play any jazz standard. In fact, it may include far too many variations than is necessary for most beginner or even intermediate players. Three examples of each chord type in different locations on the fret board would be more than adequate to allow someone to play any jazz standard. Providing an additional 12 inversions of each chord type is asking a lot, and honestly, most new-comers to jazz are intimidated or turned off by books that try to be all inclusive and overwhelming. It may have been better to have made this a "basic book 1", and then follow it with a more "advanced book 2". My other issue is the lack of "song examples" to allow the student enough material to practice what they are trying to learn. A book of this type should have at least 20 actual songs with examples of all of the chords presented.

Great buy for any level if you're not lazy!

Great book you will continue to learn from throughout the years. The book comes with a DVD so you can look up the chord being played and see the fingerings for each chord. The book and DVD show various voicings for the chords. Whenever there is a Jazz chord I don't know or I feel I'm ready to learn new voicings I refer to this book. I bought this book alongside Melbay's Jazz Guitar Real Book using that DVD alongside this book helped me in my attempts to learn Jazz Standards. Also when look up chord progressions on YouTube this book really comes in handy! You must be able to: read tab and be ready to put the practice and study time in to fluently play the chords!

Good Shuttle Overview with Excellent Pictures

Very nicely assembled overview of the Shuttle program with lots of facts and figures. It's written in such a manner that anyone could learn the various complex systems of the shuttle, yet offers plenty enough for the technical mind to chew on. By far, this is one of the best color collections of pictures of the Shuttle, Launch Vehicle and surrounding launch complex that I have seen to date.

As with the Haynes Saturn V/Apollo manual, it encompasses the program from top to bottom, nicely touching on everything. Also, as with the other manual, there are so many details not included that just can't all be stuffed into one book that would fit on a bookshelf. It is not a disappointing lack of information at all, though.

The only missing, which I really enjoyed in the Saturn V/Apollo manual, is line-art drawings of the control panels. There are many nice pictures of the interior of the Shuttle, but the line-art is just cleaner to look at from a technical aspect. Perhaps the author couldn't include any because of the different configurations the control panels have had over the various iterations of Shuttle cockpits. It also could be an impossibility since the latest generation glass-panel cockpit is color-screen driven and re-configurable during flight!

I can't stop looking at it

There's something here for both hard-core geeks and mildly interested afficianados. In one section, you learn about the history of the program, and see all the early concepts of the shuttle. Not a technical explanation, sure -- but very interesting nonetheless. If you're not geeked out by that, never fear -- turn the page and you get an in-depth explanation on how the main engines work. Particularly interesting to me was the breakdown of the countdown to launch. Learn each phase of the launch and what happens as things progress towards liftoff. Plus to top it all off, you get hundreds of pretty pictures of all the internal workings of the shuttle. The program is almost over -- if you're reading this, just buy the book, you won't regret it.

P.S. It's hardcover! I didn't notice that until I received it, what a great surprise!

Its fine as a general history book on the shuttle. Buy why is it a Haynes manual, there is virtually no technical details on anything. The much older book, Space Shuttle Operators Manual is much better in that regard, but is from before the glass cockpit redesign.
