He has been engaged for over 50 years with business, social, political, and religious issues at the local, national, and international levels. As a practical man and a man of faith, he addresses the important questions which confront all of us regarding the critical decisions and choices we make as we try to build a good and happy life for ourselves, our families, and society at large. He holds Bachelor and Master Degrees and has been an adjunct faculty member at several colleges and universities. He is currently a speaker at colleges and universities regarding social justice issues and the concept of the Common Good. He has been married to a wonderful woman for 44 years. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.

Based in Reality - Helpful for everyone!

This book is a MUST read for those who have been disillusioned by Belief Systems, and/or feel unsure of the meaning of their life - for whatever causes; be it jaded by religious or intellectually based Belief Systems. Additionally, the author provides us with a Discussion Forum on his website.

There are abundant reasons as to why I highly recommend this book...too many to address here. This is NOT another typical self-help book. No mystical or sixth sense experience motivated the author to write this book. We know many "New Age", self-proclaimed prophets describe such events as their premise for writing their books. Robert Beezat's book is based on logical, rational and knowledge-based thinking. That is why I like it.

Chapter 5 of the book REALLY struck me, as it may you. Beezat poses "The Most Basic Question: Why is there something, instead of nothing?" Quite a provocative question; which many people do, in my opinion, sweep under the rug. Why is it that people don't take the time to answer such an important question? This book encourages us to make the effort, and suggests a LOGICAL BASIS for thinking about our own spirituality. He proposes the results can lead to living a more contented life, "interacting with reality on an intellectual and spiritual basis."

I think this book encourages us to "Think Globally and Act Locally." It is not only concerned with interpersonal relationships, but also with our environment and all the subsets which that encompasses; e.g., political and social, etc., subsets. Basically, if we make life-affirming choices and decisions, we will positiveley affect our WORLD by the trickle effect. The Status Quo ISN'T working. It IS antiquated and needs some tweaking...by US! It is OUR WORLD, after all.

Especially refreshing are Mr. Beezat's thoughts on Human Suffering brought about by outside forces, and also his thoughts about "isms." He states suffering is a reality and that we CAN move through it, with support. In my opinion, some religions and movements encourage us (or dictate to us), to use a "conscious re-thinking" technique. This negates and/or minimizes the reality of human suffering. E.g., one belief system claims if we are selfless and relinquish our desires, needs and wants, we will not experience suffering. It claims our suffering is brought on by our unfulfilled desires, and basically implies we cause our own suffering. Some New Age Movements, Belief Systems and 12-Step Philosophies may be beneficial for awhile, but I also believe they can be damaging. That "conscious re-thinking" technique, in my opinion, is harmful to one's reality. "People may be ostracized by a movement if they don't toe the line completely and correctly." (author quote)

While the author, nor I, am "totally opposed to ideologies and theologies", I am in agreement with him and "opposed to forcing, coercing and intimidating people to accept and follow those views." He gives us examples of comprehensive mindsets that are intellectually or religiously bases, such as, "Communism, Socialism, Darwinish, etc." He states, "No ism has the answer to everyone's life's problems and challenges."

Again, the encouragement to THINK. Reality IS complex. I agree we do "need frameworks within which to make moral and ethical decisions." I like that the author's suggestions are based on logic and in reality. His knowledge, humor and wisdom have resulted in a "gift" of a book, which inspires us to live life thoughtfully, wholly and as happily as possible.

This is a simple, straight-forward, and wise book. The answers to our problems are right before our faces, but most of us are blind to them. This book reminded me of the most fundamental truths about living a good life.

A Fresh, Direct Approach to Self-Discovery

So many self-help books seem like cheesy motivational directives, but Beezat's approach breaks the mold with a frank and pragmatic tone that challenges readers to face life's important questions with honesty. Beezat shares his personal journey in a straightforward way that cuts through fluff and gets down to the business of discovering value in life. Great adaptation of the Memory Palace to Spanish

This is an awesome book for anyone wanting to learn Spanish quickly. I'm well acquainted with various memory techniques but I've been wondering how to adapt them when I try to learn a language. Now I don't need to - Anthony Metivier has done it already.
This is a very easy book to read and it explains everything simply. First the basic Memory Palace technique and how to create your own, and then how to use it to memorize your Spanish vocabulary.
The things I like about this book are that there are plenty of examples and clear explanations, advice on mistakes to avoid, action steps at the end of chapters which are a good summary of the material, a couple of tips on memorizing grammar, and advice on choosing words to add to your vocabulary.
If you enjoy banging your head against a brick wall by using basic repetition to learn a language, you should go and buy any of the thousands of average language courses and books in the market.
If you want to learn Spanish quickly and be amazed at what your memory can do, you should buy this book.

Very useful

This book has really helped me advance my vocabulary. I understand Spanish grammar rules well enough, but have always struggled with remembering new words. The technique requires a bit of time and effort at first, but you only have to do it once and if you really want to build your vocabulary, it will save you a lot of time later on. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to become fluent in Spanish.

Creative method for memorizing

I am a learner of English at the beginning and after about nine years of English learning I started to learn Spanish.
I found that it is very helpful to associate the meaning of Spanish words with that of the English. When I memorize the vocabulary of both Spanish and English,I found that if I don't make some initial mnemonics, next time I encounter the words I won't be likely to retrieve them correctly and what I remember is merely the fact that I have learned it.So I realize that the hard and boring rote won't help a lot,and I slightly browsed Amazon for something helpful,and luckily got this one.

The author's creative skills on memorizing Spanish words is essentially based on the mnemonics called Loci system,which is associate memory with location. Although the seeming extra effort makes things more complicated,it is still noteworthy that successful retrieving is everyone's ultimate purpose when memorizing words,and that would not usually happen if one didn't memorize the words profoundly in the first place. The author provides an creative way to do that. The methods is roughly to categorize associate by location and imaging,and actually these two methods are often utilized in mnemonics and are very helpful in my opinion.

I highly recommend this book because it provides a novel way to memorize words in stead of rote.

Fantastic book!

Wow I can't believe no reviews have been written to date for this excellent book. It's kind of a cross between New Breed and the Chapin book, but transcends both with respect to depth of material, gradually unfolding levels of complexity, and, in my opinion, overall practical benefit to the player once he/she masters the progressive coordination goals. This isn't another left-hand/right-foot workout while the right hand does spang-a-lang and the left foot clicks two and four; there is a good deal of focus on snare-hihat and kick-hihat interdependence. If you've worked through the John Riley books you should be able to hit the ground running in the initial coordination modules of this book, but you may find some interesting challenges once you delve further and further into the pages. I really enjoy working through the exercises, and I highly recommend this book for intermediate to advanced drummers.

About the Author
Dr. Maryanne M. Mowen is Associate Professor Emerita of Accounting at Oklahoma State University. She currently teaches online classes in cost and management accounting for Oklahoma State University. She received her Ph.D. from Arizona State University. Dr. Mowen brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to teaching and writing in cost and management accounting, with degrees in history and economics. She has taught classes in ethics and the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on accountants. Her scholarly research focuses on areas of management accounting, behavioral decision theory, and compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. She has published articles in journals, such as DECISION SCIENCE, THE JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND PSYCHOLOGY, and THE JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING RESEARCH. Dr. Mowen has served as a consultant to mid-sized and Fortune 100 companies and works with corporate controllers on management accounting issues. She is a member of the Northern New Mexico chapter of SCORE and serves as a counselor, assisting small and start-up businesses. Outside the classroom, she enjoys hiking, traveling, reading mysteries, and working crossword puzzles.

Dr. Don R. Hansen is Professor Emeritus of Oklahoma State University. He has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Brigham Young University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1977. He has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Brigham Young University. Dr. Hansen has published articles in both accounting and engineering journals, including THE ACCOUNTING REVIEW, THE JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING RESEARCH, ACCOUNTING ORGANIZATIONS AND SOCIETY, ACCOUNTING HORIZONS, and IIE TRANSACTIONS. He has served on the editorial board of THE ACCOUNTING REVIEW. His outside interests include family, church activities, reading, movies, and watching sports.

Good Quality and Cheap

The book was in excellent condition and was a decent price. MBA books can be expensive so I bought this as an alternative to the higher priced domestic books. I think this is published overseas, limited color and is soft-bound so it is cheaper.

Good for MBA class

Overall I liked the book. But there are some goofy computer graphics and sideline stories that take up room and distract the reader. The definitions need to be in the side margins. The book is written well with a lot of examples. It was very expensive and has a lot of color through out it and the cover. I used the optional software PT3 that allows the students to do the homework online. It is good for the students-but there are some formatting errors and the hints are useless. I got an A in the class so I am not complaining. I would reccomend it for upper level students only.

Well worth the time and money!

I have recently been convinced that the King James Bible is the ONLY One translation that I can depend on. This book is a brilliant help to understand more in depth about the differences between the translations and why.

Great collection of evidence!

Dr. Moorman has done a masterful job collecting the evidence to support the superiority of the Received Text and KJV! He shows in the 454 pages that the wealth of support comes from the manuscripts, church fathers, and different versions to testify to, again, the vast superiority of our Received Text as given in the KJV. This refutes the claim that there is not good support to hold to the superiority of that text. It is very technical reading but worth the time if you need proof instead of repeating old worn-out expressions that you cannot rely upon the manuscript support for the KJV. I highly recommend this book.

Seemingly a lot of information, but...

...the way it is formatted and organized, it is very time consuming to understand it. It specifically uses the NIV to contrast the KJV as far as what passages are being removed or altered from the Bible, since it is the worst translation; except for The Message, which is considered a paraphrase. From a publishing point of view, a lot of empty space here that could have been utilized to make this better. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of information here that goes a long way in proving that the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus Codex are not the oldest manuscripts- but it takes some digging to get to.
