It all began in the late 1979's when 90 year-old Master Penman Paul O'Hara explained to his new student, Michael Sull, what it was like to live in the age before typewriters. During the 1 1/2 years that Michael trained under the veteran penman's tutelage, his mentor shared much about his own past from those fabled times of seventy years before. He spoke reverently of his writing masters; about their integrity as teachers, their passion for handwriting, and their phenomenal skill with a pen. And throughout all of his recollections, there were the penmanship stories and legends from that magical time. In Michael's words: "...tales re-told by penmen of old as if read from a dusty page." Paul O'Hara passed away in 1990 at the age of 101. Since that time, Michael has crafted the stories into ballad forms of verse; a style of poetry where the metered rhyme-scheme carries the recitation along with emphasis, interest, and a sense of personal empathy. For the past 25 years, Michael has shared these poems at his workshops in America and abroad through his narrations. All the poems focus on America's Golden Age of Penmanship and the joy of putting pen to paper. In 2011 he published them in a single volume entitled "Poems of a Penman." Over time, many of his students have encouraged Michael to record his narration of the poems for the preservation of the stories, as well as for the enjoyment of the listener. Very little info of value

Unfortunately, Haynes once again fails to deliver on its promises.

This manual covers 12 years worth of Chevrolet and GMC truck platforms. I could list the dozen or so models with the various sub-models, but it would take up too much room. I'll just say this: There is a night and day difference between my grandfather's old 1989 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd long bed truck and my buddy's 1999 GMC Yukon 4x4.

And yet Haynes covers them all in about 250 pages. How is that possible? Well, by cutting corners, being incomprehensibly vague, and touching only briefly on the major subjects of interest.

I bought this manual primarily as a supplement to the diesel repair manual I bought from Haynes. I figured at least I'd be able to use this as a reference for my interior repair work and auxilory wiring system checks. Alas, I over-estimated Haynes once again. There is nothing vehicle-specific in here...and why would there be? Haynes is trying to pack 12 years worth of 12 models into 250 pages.

This manual is worthless. Use the forums dedicated to your vehicle. Search the web for supplemental websites and info. Save your money and, if you get truly serious, spend it on a GM shop manual or something similar for your vehicle. Don't buy this...it will only frustrate you.

Great Book

I've been using Haynes repair manuals since the late 80's, and this one didn't disappoint. While NOT covering every aspect of my truck (1999 Chevy C3500) because it's ALSO covering many different years and models, it's got the basics that I need to do my repairs. Anything more than that, I've got the manuals that the dealer repair shops use. I recommend this book to anybody that needs to do basic repairs and a little more, and I'll continue to get Haynes for any vehicle I get.

Almost Worthless

I bought this manual with the intention of using it to repair my 1996 Silverado. It has few items that it even addresses and even then the information is elementary. The only useful information is the vehicle specs pages and in a limited way the wiring diagrams. I plan to purchase an OEM shop manual. Unless you just want to read about your vehicle and look at a few poorly taken pictures this manual is not for you.

Disapointing

I love Rex's work but the graphics are poor: many images are too large, distorting the pointillistic effect of Rex's work. Some images are cropped and others are clumsily spread across two pages.

It is a bad attempt to be artsy and pales before the earlier French limited edition "Rexwerk" published in 1986.

I purchased two copies on separate occasions and returned them. Both had a binding error i.e. an image that was supposed to have been spread across two pages showed only the left side, the right side was a blank page. Subsequent inquiries to the publisher re this problem have gone unanswered.

I am very surprised by the poor image quality, the terrible and rather corny layout and the binding error.

NOT Egalitarianistic!

Rex! What else to say?

For years, anytime I came across artwork by Rex, pretty much everything else was put on hold while I ogled his work and fantasized a story that fit my urgent physical need. Now, I have a whole book of his art. Speaking of massive overdoses!!! OY! I didn't get ten pages into my new book before deciding on limiting myself to two facing pages a day, and even that might be an overdose. Unbelievably powerful monochrome pointillistic images capable of defining male beauty and/or human sexuality. Art for arts sake. And eroticism, and onanistic pleasure, and copulatory guide, and exploring the range of (mostly human) sexuality, kinks, leather, rubber, binding........... Hot! All very, very HOT!

23Mar2015: Now that I've carefully perused this book, it looses a star going from I Love It to I like it. Where are all the outstanding works by Rex. This seems to be a "filler" edition of "he also drew" material, with none of the truly great drawings Rex has done. OK, maybe 2 were a bit great, but the great (in comparison)/not great ratio still sucks! That is NOT to say the drawings aren't really well done, printed and displayed, They are. They just aren't as good, as a collection, as I expected. And, speaking of presentation, there is a LOT of black ink on those pages, much of which use up space that could have been used by a larger image area and a lot less depressive darkness. I want to be shocked/confronted by Rex's work, not vast expanses of lampblack and soy oil. Sorry Rex, NOT your best work.

According to the cover flap inlay, `Res the artist is a historian, a voyeur, a muckraker and a trouble maker, a provocateur, a sensualist and a hedonist, the sensitive and observant portrayer of a secret world, and a dirty old man (who looks remarkably good for his age).' In the style of Bruno Gm�nder Verlag this large book is a well-produced and designed volume solely consisting of the black and white pen an dink drawings of the artist known as Rex.

Inside this book are more imaginative renderings of the dark side of male sexual fantasies. At first glance the art depicts situations that seem merely exploitative, images that are created for the eyes of the underworld of sexually obsessed leather men. But look more closely and the deft pen of the artist shows through with every image. The images are not for the squeamish or for the uninformed imagination, but they are splendidly rendered in a style that is uniquely his own.

The book pays homage to this sometimes forgotten artist with a fine essay at the end of the book written by Bo Tobin Anacabe, the international representative for the artist. The essay alone introduces the history of the life and career of Rex and allows the reader to understand his choice of subject matter and the creative choice of keeping everything in black and white. It also offers some insights into the eye of the voyeur - which just may belong to the reader of this book! Grady Harp, December 12

Sweet Possession!!!

This is the third book in the Steel Brothers series, and after devouring Craving, and Obsession, I was more than ready for Possession! Helen Hardt did not disappoint with this third book! The emotional journey that Jade and Talon began in Craving culminates in Possession. While many questions are answered, new questions are introduced that will continue with Melt. The loving healing journey between Jade and Talon is just beautiful. The loving sex is steamy. The writing is fabulous and I adored Possession! Their evolution from falling in love, and then for Talon to be able to tell Jade he loves her is incredible. Talon gets therapy for the sexual, physical, and emotional abuse he endured as a ten year old boy, and we get to see characters from the previous books.While there is intensity and darkness in this series, there is sweet love and redemption with healing which is very powerful! And while Jade and Talon profess their love to each other, there is still more to come in the mystery of the final person responsible for Talon's abuse. Cannot wait to see what happens in Melt!

This book was amazing. It was full of emotions that had you up and down throughout. The love between Jade and Talon just keeps getting hotter and hotter and just goes to show you how having the right person in your life can affect it.......With Jade being in Talon's life (giving him the feel of completion) and with the help of the shrink, Talon is able to open up to everyone about what happened to him 25 years ago. He has also found out that even with all of this that had happened in his life, that love is stronger than anything that he has ever faced. The conclusion of this book will leave with your jaw dropped, and you mind going "OMG OMG OMG"........This series is one that I am so glad that I found and I will definitely suggest that everyone read this book. If you loved 50 Shades, you will just fall in love with Talon and Jade.

About the Author

John W. Creswell, PhD is an Professor of Family Medicine and Co-Director, Michigan Mixed Methods Research and Scholarship Program at the University of Michigan.�He has authored numerous articles and 27 books on mixed methods research, qualitative research and research design. While at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he held the Clifton Endowed Professor Chair, served as director of a mixed methods research office, founded the SAGE journal, the Journal of Mixed Methods Research, and was an Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan and a consultant to the Veterans Administration health services research center. He was a Senior Fulbright Scholar to South Africa in 2008 and to Thailand in 2012. In 2011 co-led a national working group on mixed methods practices at the National Institute of Health, served as a Visiting Professor at Harvard’s School of Public Health, and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. �In 2014 he was the President of the Mixed Methods International Research Association.� In 2015 he joined the staff of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan.�

Cheryl N. Poth, PhD, has been a faculty member of the Centre for Research and Applied Measurement and Evaluation within the Department of Educational Psychology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta since 2008. In this role, she has developed and taught graduate-level research methods and program evaluation courses in addition to supervising and mentoring students, faculty, and community members in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research. Dr. Poth has an adjunct appointment in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and serves as the methodologist on several cross-disciplinary research teams. She has been principal investigator for projects and grants funded federally (e.g., Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada), provincially (e.g., Alberta Education and Alberta Centre for Child, Family and Community Research and Alberta Advisory Committee for Educational Studies), and locally (e.g., University of Alberta and School Boards). She has authored over 30 peer reviewed journal articles and served as guest co-editor of two special issues of the International Journal of Qualitative Methods. In addition to more than 100 conference and 25 workshop presentations, she served as co-chair of the 2013 Advances in Qualitative Methods Conference (AQM). She has led research methods workshops with diverse audiences; for example, at the International Institute of Qualitative Methods’ Thinking Qualitatively Series. She is a current editorial board member of the International Journal of Qualitative Methods and the Journal of Mixed Methods Research. In 2013, she was recognized with the Provost’s Award for Early Achievement of Excellence in teaching.

Creswell masterfully demystifies Qual research so that novice researchers and students can design and conduct actual research studies, using his easy-to-follow scripts and examples. Stepbrother Protects is the sixth book in the powerful new series, His Twisted Games by Chloe Hawk. This is a fantastic read but please be aware, this is a serial so that means cliffhangers but it also means that it's perfect for a quick lunch break read. And if you have Kindle Unlimited, it's all gravy! Personally I love serials but I recognize they may not be everyone's cup of tea. The story is exciting, thrilling, compelling, erotic, romantic, sensual and sexy. The dialogue is smart and well written. The characters are captivating, engaging and intriguing. Hawks has really kicked up the heat and it is smoking hot! Motives begin to surface and new characters are introduced. Ghosts from the past emerge to threaten Avery and Cole. Oh my! This just gets better and better! I was turning the pages so fast my IPad couldn't keep up! Wealthy older stepbrother who managed to escape an abusive father and forced to leave everyone behind-check! Beautiful angry and abused stepsister trying to escape an abusive stepfather-check! Cruel father, unbalanced mother, possible mob connections and enemies with malevolent intentions-check! Blackmail, betrayal, suspense, jealousy, corporate espionage and lots of drama-check! Romance, heated attraction and forbidden love-you bet! Fantastic entertainment and an awesome read! I only have one little complaint - I love this series so much that I searched for a link to sign up for new releases or a newsletter but could not find anything. Hmmm....Maybe I overlooked it? None the less, it's still a fabulous read!

A racy read as the web further tangles!

Cole bails out of jail only to find his apartment has been ransacked and Avery's mother show up from NJ to take her back home. That never happens! Cole and Avery head to his penthouse suite at the ritzy hotel where they have erotic hot tub sex. When Cole goes out to pick up some food, Avery finds a note from Lucy and a sheaf of papers Cole took from his father's office. The next installment of the series should bring some answers both about Lucy and the papers. Besides Cole's love, what Avery wants most of all is some answers. This story is about secrets. Everyone has them.

SPOILER ALERT- I was enjoying this book until the part where he rubs his d**k on her face. Then proceeds to "slap her in the face with it", comes all over her face and then takes a picture of her "so he can see her covered in his come anytime he wants".

It was just plain gross and humiliating even though Avery didn't see it that way. Also, her "getting herself off" in the trashed apartment didn't make sense. After I read what she was about to do I skipped that section entirely. I'll read the next installment because I want to see where the story goes.

THE book on brushes

I studied with Jon several years ago, so I know from firsthand experience that he truly is a brush master. He can do things with brushes that boggle your mind when seen up close. Fortunately, he has authored this fantastic book on the subject that thoroughly address the fundamentals. If you want to become a serious brush player - and any jazz musician MUST be a great brush player - then this is the book to get. Also check out his accompanying DVD "Brush Control" as a great supplement to the book. Seeing the patterns played visually is very important, as sometimes brush playing can be somewhat abstract to pick-up simply from a book.

A Great Workshop

I have really enjoyed this book. I have gained so much information I don't know where to begin. I have never been particularly skilled in the art of the brushes. However, after reading "Mastering the Arts of Brushes" and completing most of the 32 bursh patterns, my skills have really begun to develop. Additionally, I have seen my dexterity and coordination improve. The 10 essential concepts are key to understanding the way bushes are meant and can be used. I can now confidently incorporate brush strokes in my music.

If you, like me, are fairly interested in always improve your technique as a drummer, this book will be essential for your learning and your development as drummer, quite apart from your music style/taste, whether you're a rock drummer or a jazz drummer.
